Constitution of State Ganga Committee, Madhya Pradesh

With the objective of ensuring the continuous and adequate flow of water in the Ganga River and its tributaries within Madhya Pradesh, along with the prevention, control, and mitigation of pollution, the Government of Madhya Pradesh has constituted the State Ganga Committee, Madhya Pradesh.

The committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Government of Madhya Pradesh, ensuring high-level administrative oversight and coordinated policy implementation.

Nomination of Expert Members

A total of five expert members have been nominated to the committee to provide technical guidance and strategic direction in various domains related to river conservation, pollution control, and sustainable water management.Among the distinguished nominees, Dr. Sunil Chaturvedi, Director of Vibhavari Institute, Dewas, has been appointed as an Expert Member for Water Conservation Works.His nomination recognizes his expertise and contribution in the field of water conservation and environmental sustainability.

The committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Government of Madhya Pradesh, ensuring high-level administrative oversight and coordinated policy implementation.

Tenure of the Committee

The tenure of all nominated expert members has been fixed for a period of two years, commencing from November 2025.

This term will enable the committee to implement strategic initiatives aimed at:

  • Promoting sustainable water conservation practices

  • Supporting long-term ecological balance of the Ganga and its tributaries
