Who We Are

VIBHAVARI is a non-profit voluntary organization. It is registered under Registration of Firms & Societies Act, 1973 (Reg. No. 1570), and is formed with the aim of promoting sustainable development at both rural and urban levels.

Since its registration in 1997, Vibhavari has been working at field level as an implementation partner and consultant with Government and national & international agencies in almost entire Madhya Pradesh.

Vibhavari is authorized to work across the length and breadth of India and has got 12A, 80G certificates along with affiliations under FCRA, GST, and is also registered with Niti Ayog.

Area Of Interventions

Water

Vibhavari has empowered over 75,000 farmer families through comprehensive watershed development projects, expanding irrigation coverage across 95,971 hectares in 199 villages of Madhya Pradesh. Renowned for its training programs in watershed management NGO India, the organization has pioneered innovative community engagement models such as Jal Yatra and Pani Chaupal. Its low-cost rooftop rainwater harvesting model significantly contributed to addressing Dewas city’s water crisis—initially benefiting over 2,000 households in the year 2000. Since 1997, the initiative has expanded to cover approximately 22,000 households by 2025, including the Dewas industrial area, hotels, restaurants, warehouses, schools and government buildings.

Agriculture

Vibhavari enhances agricultural income by training farmers in advanced and sustainable techniques such as drip irrigation, sprinkler systems, organic farming, and climate-smart agriculture. Through initiatives like Farmer Field Schools (FFS), seed replacement & treatment, seed germination, sowing practices by BBF, solar traps, pheromone traps, weather awareness stations, Custom Hiring Centres and soil health campaigns, the organization promotes biodiversity and environmentally responsible farming. As a result, over 51,597 farmers across 117 villages have adopted these sustainable agricultural practices, significantly improving productivity and income.

Livelihood

Vibhavari empowers women through the formation and strengthening of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), linking them to government schemes, financial literacy programs, and health-related training. Initiatives like PashuSakhi promote goat rearing as a sustainable livelihood option across sustainable income generation and collective savings among more than 1,800 women. Additionally, 240 women are engaged in agri-allied activities, while 100 women are involved in other activities such as ornament making, stitching, weaving, swarojgar (pickle and papad making). Under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM), over 800 SHGs have been formed in Dewas, 350+ SHGs in various watershed areas, and 75 SHGs in Sehore.

Sanitation

Vibhavari is recognized for its impactful sanitation training and campaigns like Agua Bahini, empowering rural women to lead hygiene movements and earn Nirmal Gram awards. In partnership with UNICEF, it promoted Wise Water Management and rainwater harvesting. It also implemented solid waste management in both urban and rural Madhya Pradesh. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, our NGO has played a significant role in promoting cleanliness and sanitation across various districts of Madhya Pradesh. We have actively collaborated with local communities, panchayats, and government bodies to implement awareness campaigns, construct household and community toilets, and promote sustainable waste management practices.

Wash In Schools

Vibhavari, in partnership with UNICEF, UN-Habitat and ITC, is leading WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programs across Madhya Pradesh with a strong focus on hygiene behaviour change, toilet usage, and maintenance of sanitation facilities in schools. The initiative has reached 134,461 students across 2,801 primary, middle and high schools in 1,318 villages. Vibhavari not only builds essential sanitation infrastructure but also trains teachers, school management committees and local stakeholders to ensure long-term sustainability. Additionally, the organization has provided consultancy support to UNICEF Bihar on WASH benchmarking, further promoting sustainable hygiene practices at the state level.

Training & Capacity Building

Vibhavari’s training wing has conducted over 1000 courses on topics like water conservation, sanitation, watershed management and livelihoods with 5,500 training programs since 1997, covering key areas such as water conservation, sanitation, watershed management and sustainable livelihoods. The organization offers customized training modules for government agencies, corporate entities and NGOs. It has also developed practical manuals and capacity-building tools tailored for diverse groups, including teachers, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and community members. Through these initiatives, Vibhavari has played a vital role in strengthening grassroots capacities and promoting sustainable development practices.

Health

Vibhavari promotes awareness and positive behavioral change among women and adolescent girls on reproductive health and gender issues through a peer-led approach. By conducting interactive sessions and creating peer leaders as change-makers, the initiative ensures long-term sustainability in selected villages. The organization has implemented Training of Trainers (ToT) programs to build the capacity of peer leaders as master trainers, enabling them to conduct sessions on topics such as RTIs/STIs, Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), nutrition, and anaemia. Vibhavari has also organized sensitization sessions for Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, school teachers, and SHG members, empowering them to take ownership and lead behavior change related to reproductive health. Furthermore, school children have been actively engaged and empowered to act as change agents, playing a crucial role in spreading awareness within their families and communities.
